Traditional Food Trips to Koma tou Gialou / Kumyalı
Youth in Action: Developing Dialogue Through Culture, which is funded by the European Union 🇪🇺 under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, is a bi-communal project implemented by Folk Arts Foundation (HASDER), and Kliros Culture and Sports Association (PAOK).
The cultural activities under the project has recently started and the first trip was to the villages of Karpasia / Karpaz region with HASDER and PAOK groups. We had a day-long activity that started with visits to the olive mill to observe olive pressing and olive oil production, to the carob factory to get information about the carob and carob related products. As Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Youth, we continued the activities in the Nitovikla Hotel to experience the baking of traditional baked food 🍞🔥, we also had a chance to bake the food in the old traditional wood fired outdoor oven. We have not only learned the techniques, but also had the chance to take part in the whole process. We spent a beautiful day having fun together🤝🌈.
